Did you know that by law, all non-Federal weather modification activities must be reported to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, via the NOAA Weather Program Office?
I just discovered this law (Public Law 92-205 , 1972) and an interesting website to go along with it. Honestly, I know very little directly about the history of weather modification.
It's funny because for years as a weather officer in the Air Force, my family members, friends, and occasionally the public jokingly accused us weather folks of making or changing the weather. "You're responsible for those "chem trails," many on the fringe often say.
It turns out that people have been attempting to change the weather for years!
